Save Our Mobile Clinics in Yemen

The conflict and humanitarian crisis in Yemen has caused the destruction of basic infrastructure, disruption of basic services, major displacement, and loss of lives and livelihoods.

An estimated 7.6 million people require services to treat or prevent malnutrition, including 4.7 million who are in acute need. This includes 3.5 million people who require treatment for acute malnutrition, of whom about 2.3 million are children under age 5 and 1.2 million pregnant and lactating women.

One in 5 children with severe acute malnutrition will die without treatment; this risk increases between 9 and 10 times for those with complications.

The health care system still functions for only 51% of the population, leaving 11.6 million people in acute need for health care. Many health staff have not received salaries due to the public deficit.

Our Mobile Clinics are a vital lifeline for the people in Yemen, without your support we can’t keep them open. The mobile clinics offer integrated health and nutrition services to Al-Misrakh and Dobab districts, two of the highest priority districts in Taiz governorate.

Mobile Team (MT) Overview:

  • Each team consists of one doctor, one medical assistant, one nurse, one midwife, and one data collector.
  • Services include medical consultations, reproductive health services, nutrition services, community mobilization, laboratory work, essential medications, follow-up care, referrals for complicated cases, vaccinations, and health education.
  • MTs are linked to existing health facilities. The MTs see patients that live a further walking distance from the health facilities. However, patients who need additional care are referred to the health facilities or, in complicated cases, to local hospitals. MedGlobal pays referral costs including the cost of care, transportation, and per diem.

It’s easy to feel helpless in moments like this, but we ask you to respond with what you can to this urgent appeal, and please also share this fundraiser as widely as you can. We need your support more than ever to reach as many people as possible in the coming months.

MedGlobal helps those in need across the globe, including refugees and displaced people. We send teams of doctors, nurses and medics, along with medical equipment, supplies and medications, to crisis areas where we provide health services and train local providers. We believe in a world without disparities in health.
