In resource-limited settings, Point-of-Care Ultrasound has proven to be a low-cost, efficient method to aid in the diagnosis and management of life-threatening conditions. MedGlobal primarily uses portable, rechargeable “Butterfly iQ” ultrasound machines, which are well-suited for use in the field. Training programs have focused on the use of POCUS in Trauma, in the diagnosis of pediatric pneumonia, to identify high risk characteristics of pregnancy and to guide ICU procedures. The Training curriculum is always tailored to the specific needs of each country, guided by the national mortality data and conversations with health care workers in the field. MedGlobal POCUS training has been implemented in Bangladesh, Colombia, Mexico, Pakistan, Palestine, Ukraine, and Yemen.
This year at our 2023 MedGlobal Conference we are proud to offer a one-day workshop in Point-Of-Care Ultrasound, focusing on Trauma-related ultrasound, Lung Ultrasound and Basic Cardiac Ultrasound that will include short lectures with an ample amount of hands-on practice on standardized patients. The goal of this workshop is to build skills for those who are interested in volunteering with MedGlobal for future POCUS missions.
