Maya Bizri, MD MPH is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine at the American University of Beirut.She was the founding director of the Psychiatry Psycho-oncology program and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at AUBMC. She also has a background in public health and joined MedGlobal inNovember 2022. Her interest in global mental health, particularly in addressing the mental health needs of healthcare workers developed post working in disaster and low resource settings in Beirut in 2019. This year, as part of MedGlobal’s expanding work, Dr Bizri conducted a trauma-informed care training in Lviv, Ukraine for healthcare workers addressing burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and management of patients exposed to trauma. She has also conducted substance use training in Gaziantep for healthcare workers in Northwest Syria as part of a joint effort by WHO and Medglobal.Â
