From November to December 2018, I had the opportunity to volunteer in Bangladesh in a medical clinic assisting Rohingya refugees. The highlight of my time there was meeting the interpreters. They were all brilliant at making our work possible, not only by assisting with language but in helping us understand cultural differences and explaining the history behind their situation.

Nassir, in particular, comes to my mind first. He spoke, almost daily, about his goals of helping his people. He has hopes of becoming a “kind leader” and making a difference for his people. The world would be a wonderful place if all our leaders were “kind leaders.” I hope he attains his dream.
